Study of expert opinion on health promotive services for patients at hospitals affiliated to Shahid Beheshti University of Medical Science

Background and Aim: Since first health promotion declaration in Ottawa (1986), a novel insight was established regard to re-orientation health services specially hospitals to change their traditional role. Hospitals are one of the best capacities to deliver health promotion and preventive services. Materials and Methods: For this health service study, firstly, stakeholder analysis was achieved. Then, key stakeholders were assigned in two groups of internal and external and were inquired about several areas of health promotion services in hospitals. The questionnaire was validated through expert opinion and Likert scale was employed to design questions and quantify stakeholders’ insight. Mean and standard deviation of the grades on each area was used for data analysis. The areas were necessity and urgency of providing services, service providers, resource generation, structure, policies, etc. Results: Regarding to expert opinions and international experiences, a primary model to provide health promotion services in hospitals affiliated to Shahid Beheshti University, M.C., was designed. In this model, first priorities were educational public hospitals and patients in clinical divisions. Experts were agreed with providing services by clinical and community medicine specialists, general physicians and educated nurses. Conclusion: Health promotion services are prospect of health services in hospitals. Certainly, proposed model will be an appropriate guide for decision-makers and managers to decide on evidence and establish health promotion services in hospitals.
