The health belief model is one of the models used for change of behavior at the individual level. Due to lack of experience reporting on the problems posed, this study aimed to determine an investigation on the effect of education based on health belief model on protective behaviors from dust particles in Ahvaz female elementary school teachers in 2013. Materials and Methods: In this experimental study, 200 teachers were randomly divided into two groups, case and control groups (n=100), after the pre-test. Questionnaire was designed according to Health Belief Model constructs and confirming validity and reliability. Questionnaire was completed within two stages (before and after intervention) in the two groups. The interventional program was designed based on the results of pre-test. The case group received the intervention within 4 sessions. Finally, the data was analyzed using Mann-Whitney U and Wilcoxon tests. Results: The findings showed the score of knowledge 58.81.44 (p<0.001), perceived susceptibility 29.62.3 (p<0.001), perceived severity 31.72.4 (p<0.001), perceived benefits 30.53 (p<0.001), perceived self-efficacy 15.22.2 (p<0.001), behavior 37.83.8 (p<0.001), perceived barriers 18.14.7 (p<0.011) and Cue to Action 7.41.1 (P<0.041) in the case group than the control group significantly have increased after the educational intervention. Conclusion: According to research findings, implement educational program based on health belief model can improve protective behaviors of teachers against dust particles. Therefore, the results of this study can be applied to other schools.
