Background and Aim: Different hospital unit layout has a great impact on expenses dealing with patients' and medical staff transfer, hence, different optimization models have been proposed by prior investigators in order to save resources. However, uncertainty is not observed in outcomes, meanwhile, complex nonlinear models have been developed that could not be generalized to optimization solutions. The present study was conducted to design a model for optimal hospital unit layout according to uncertain data. Materials and Methods: For this explanatory study, mathematical models were developed for optimization according to 3 indices: distance, flow and value of flow between hospital units. Results: The developed model can be easily performed in a hospital unit. Meanwhile, it has the capability of resolving uncertainty, despite its simplicity when compared with prior models. Conclusion: The developed model is a practical one for hospital unit layout, thus, performing the model in a practical example is recommended. |
