Background and Aim: According to concerns about estimating children's play skills, and use of ChIPPA, the question is the reliability of ChIPPA. To discover the reliability, this research was completed in 1394 in Tehran.
Materials and Methods: This research is an experimental cohort with 2 examiner and 31 normal children aged 4-6 were chosen from kindergartens of four regions of Tehran. CCTV recorded the examination session and the first examiner scored the session by videotape again. After that the second examiner scored the videotape. After two weeks retest was completed. Pearson product-moment correlation coefficient estimated between two examiners.
Results: Research conducted on 2 examiner and 31 children. Intra-class correlation coefficient was 0.99-1 in intra-rater reliability and was 0.98-1 in inter-rater reliability part. The intra-class correlation coefficient for symbolic and combined NOS and all PEPA scores were between 0.68 to 0.99. Wilcoxon test showed that there were no significant differences between symbolic NIA and conventional imaginative NOS in the test and retest, but conventional imaginative and combined NIA decreased in the retest.
Conclusion: It seems that ChIPPA is enough reliable for assessing pretend play. Therefore, it is suggested to apply it.
