Background and Aim: Considering the increasing rate of cardiovascular diseases and the role of inflammatory factors as predictors of such diseases, this study was done to determine the effect of 12 weeks of endurance training on serum C - reactive protein (CRP) and plasma fibrinogen in unathlete young men. Materials and Methods: This clinical trial was conducted on 24 young male students of Azad University (Tehran Science and Research Branch) with sedentary life style. These voluntiers were randomly allocated into two groups of cases and controls. The two groups were matched for age, gender, weight, height, lipid percent and maximal oxygen input. Blood samples (5cc) were taken from all subjects before and after the training program. Control group received no training while experimental group received a 12-week endurance training program consisting of three sessions a week. Results: Data showed that CRP of controls changed from 0.45±0.04 to 0.46± 0.03 (p: 0.6) while in the experimental group it decreased significantly from 0.46±0.04 to 0.40±0.05, (p: 0.002). Also, there was not any change in the amount of fibrinogen of the control group, while in the experimental group it decreased significantly from 233 to 213 (p< 0.002). Conclusion: It was shown that 12 weeks of endurance training can have a positive effect on reduction of inflammatory factors, as a predictor of cardiovascular disease in unathlete men. So, doing such training program probably can be helpful.
