The role of attachment styles and attribution styles in predicting life satisfaction in students with depression

Background and Aim: the aim of this study was to predict life satisfaction according to attachment and attribution styles in the depressed students.

Materials and Methods: This study was correlative study and statistical population included all male and female students of Allameh Tabataba’i University in 2015 that 318 of students were selected as members of sampling with available sampling method that were selected in two stages: in step one 318 students were selected and for the next step 135 students (83 males and 52 females) that the Beck depression score above the cut-off point and were eligible for the study were selected as a main sample in study. The data collected from questionnaires and colleagues, life satisfaction, attachment style and attribution were used.

Results: The results of this study by using multivariate regression analysis showed that the styles of attachment, insecure attachment styles-secure, avoidant attachment style for predicting life satisfaction factors have significant impact, as well as other results showed that the size of attributing  stable-unstable position overall in the negative and positive specialized-general the coefficients are statistically significant effect and can be depression students of the life satisfaction well they predict.

Conclusion: According to the results it could be said that people who have a secure attachment style, they're less depressed and more satisfied with their lives and since styles attribution direct emotions of people and  the attribution of a stable-unstable  negative situations leads to depression and effects on the satisfaction of life.
